Appearances Hair Color & Design Studio

Appearances Hair Color & Design Studio opened its doors on November 1, 2003, envisioning a comfortable yet upscale and modern environment where clients would feel welcomed and relaxed while receiving personalized service.

Business began with only two stylists, one of which was co-owner, Jim Thrasher. Thrasher and his wife, Sondra began to hire additional stylists and by the time they reached their 6 month anniversary, Appearances Hair Color and Design Studio had gained enough business to fully staff their salon. The full service hair salon currently houses 8 stations in their newly remodeled 1167 square feet.

According to owner, Sondra Thrasher, communication with her staff has been the key to the salons success. "We openly invite communication from our staff so that we may continue to grow," Trasher said. "Suggestions are always welcome as long as there is a plan to accomplish the proposed suggestion."

Never having owned a hair salon in the past, Thrasher found her staff to be highly resourceful and the majority of the suggestions extremely useful and constructive. Appearances also relies heavily on feedback from the guests and have found these comments to be the lifeblood of the salons future success. By implementing these suggestions, the salon has found that it is easier to retain their business and continually improve upon the clients' experience as a whole.

Appearances is a commission salon and primarily carries Bumble and Bumble products because of their excellent reputation for education as well as quality of products. "We have not been disappointed and continue to look forward to a very long and successful relationship with Bumble and Bumble," Thrasher commented.

In addition to the newly remodeled salon, Appearances has undergone many internal structural changes within the past five and half years. These changes include pay structure, pricing structure and education. Although changes can be difficult, the owners of Appearances Hair Color & Design Studio feel very confident that within the past year, they have arrived at a place that is not only beneficial to the salon as a whole, but also the staff within the salon, thereby creating a win-win situation for clients and employees.

Appearances boasts many achievements such as Mayor's Recognition Certificate, Salon Today's Top 200 Salons, Best of Broomfield and employees four American Board of Certified Hair Colorists.
